NUMBERVALUE

In Microsoft Excel, the NUMBERVALUE function is an incredibly useful tool to understand, as its application helps convert unusable data into relevant data that can be used in any number of other formulas.

In essence, this function takes a text value and converts it into a number value that is more suited for other formulas. Often times, perhaps due to a large copy/paste from another file, some numbers are not transcribed perfectly and have decimal separators or group separators that makes them unusable for other formulas.
